Mar. 17, 2013 – It didn’t work! I built a brilliant leprechaun trap and laid it out before bed last night, only to find it empty this morning. Oh, they had been here alright. The girls and I awoke to pairs of gorgeous new mud boots lined up in a row by our nesting boxes. I so badly want to meet one of these shoe-making wee people, but each time they elude me. Some might think it foolish for a hen of science to believe in such foolery, but I’m not daft! I have evidence that they exist; tiny footprints left in a trail of gold; a reddish toned hair follicle caught on our fencing, (though Sawyer wants it noted that Mom has red hair), and the indisputable fact that each year on this day, every egg laid by the Cluck, Cluck, Doo! hens, is green! Coincidence?
