Apr. 4, 2013 – Over the last several months, I have been secretly teaching myself how to roost in our coop without getting woozy. I don’t know why, but ever since I was a chick, I’ve preferred sleeping in my nesting box over the pine perch where Wilma and Sawyer snooze. I can’t seem to keep my balance with my eyes closed! I don’t find it at all natural. Tired of being teased, I decided to overcome my weakness. While the others ranged, I practiced. I watched old film from past Olympic Games, scrutinizing gymnasts on the balance beam. I took short power naps, testing my balance. Tonight, when the girls came in to roost, I was already perched in a spot by the window. They were shocked! Oh, they’ll be scratching their heads in the morning when they find me back in my nesting box. I proved I can roost, but I’m a mattress girl through and through.
