Apr. 25, 2013–Sawyer was all a flutter today, racing back and forth across the yard, muttering to herself as she went. Every once in a while she would stop by the thinking log and call questions up to me like, “What’s your favorite color?” “Do you like stripes or solids?” “How many credit cards do you own?” I was almost at my limit when she stood before me once again – this time with a brown paper package tied up with a silky yellow ribbon. “Go ahead,” she said. “Open it. I’m a little late getting this done, but I wanted to give you something to celebrate Earth Day.” And there in my hands, under the lovely wrappings, was a lime green and purple wallet made out of duct tape. I will treasure it always.
