May 22, 2013 – It’s a stormy day, so the girls and I gave each other facials and pedicures and got caught up on our favorite soap opera, As the Hen Lays. I’ll admit it – I’m not much into fancy cosmetics and facial gobbledygook, but it was fun painting Wilma’s face with a seaweed and cucumber paste. Frightening, how much she looked like an alien when it dried. Maybe that’s why facial masks are so popular. I slobbered my face with green goop that tightened my eyeballs up and over my head. Now that it’s been washed off, I can see how one might fashion this chicken a regular Aphrodite. I looked in the mirror and found myself quoting Lord Byron to my own reflection: “She walks in beauty, like the night – of cloudless climes and starry skies; and all that’s best of dark and bright, meet in her aspect and her eyes”. Oh my goodness, I’ve become my own soap opera diva!
