May 30, 2013– I think shade is underrated. We hit ninety degrees today for the first time this year, with a similar forecast through Saturday. Last week the temperature was in the forties! Although I’m looking forward to summer, I’m all for a slow and easy transition to heat. There’s nothing pretty about sweat… just take a look at Wilma! Thankfully, we have shade. We can dig into the dirt under Coop #3, we can hang out under the pines behind the chicken yard, and we can chill in the coolness of the garage. In the shade I can nap, visit with my flockmates, eat my peanuts and work on my journal. This, along with a frosty piña colada, is my plan for the next three days.
