July 29, 2013– Sawyer wasn’t too upset with me after her caffeine incident yesterday. In fact, she handed me a present this morning as a means to make amends. I unintentionally caused her great fear with a story I retold. I should have bought her a gift. Sawyer is such a sweetheart. I opened the small, velvet jewelry box and saw what looked like a miniature silver medial epicondyle of the humerus. It was hanging from the loveliest chain. “What is this?” I asked Sawyer while admiring the replica. “That, Pal, is your funny bone. It’s been missing lately.” Ouch. Maybe she wasn’t over yesterday’s misstep after all. “It’s lovely, Sawyer” I smiled gratefully, for truly I was. If my best friend can’t tell me when I’ve been a horse’s patooty, than who can. “I will wear it proudly!” What Sawyer doesn’t know, is that I have an adventure planned for us tomorrow that will make her wattles scream! It’s going to be a great (and hopefully tickle-the-funny-bone) kind of day!
