August 19, 2013 – Today was a terrific day, even after I noticed a missing tail feather. I woke up early, put on my sparkly necklace, and made myself a bowl of spaghetti. For breakfast! It’s good to change things up once in a while. I even took a walk with Wilma down to Mrs. Turner’s farm to visit our friend, Rosemary, the dairy cow. She filled us in on all the gossip happening there, and we filled her in about the Vespa. Then, she told us that Mrs. Turner was expecting a baby. “A baby?!” I echoed, completely flabbergasted. “Mrs. Turner is 91 years old! Are you sure you heard correctly?” Rosemary cocked her head to the side and thought for a moment. “Wait, you’re right. She’s not having a baby. She’s getting a new kid. She is taking in a little goat that has no family.” I love Rosemary, but sometimes her brain is fuzzier than the outside of a Georgia peach. We had a good laugh over that one. Wilma and I had a pleasant walk home. She commented on how much she likes my sparkly necklace. “It hides your molt well,” she said. That’s the closest thing to a compliment I’ve ever had from her. Yup; it’s been a great day!
