August 20, 2013 – Charlotte mentioned to me in passing this morning that there would be a full moon tonight. (This probably explains why Peaches walked by us earlier in the day wearing an astronaut helmet and flippers.) That got me thinking. It’s been a while since we last bothered Sugar Plum, the house cat. So once the sun disappeared behind the trees and the sky grew darker, Sawyer and I dragged the old, wooden painter’s ladder under Mom’s bedroom window, climbed up to the top step, and peered into her room. The orange cat was sprawled across the bed, snoozing as usual. There was just enough light coming from the TV in the other room, to illuminate the two of us in the window. I gave the glass a good rap and when Sugar’s head snapped up, Sawyer and I turned around, bent over and flipped our fluffy butts at the insufferable feline. Then, we high-tailed it down the ladder and ran back to our coop, laughing all the way. Oh ya, there was a full moon tonight, two of them!
