September 12, 2013 – Today has been a very scary day, even for a scientist like me. Something in the sky sure was angry because it shot at us a gazillion quivers of lightning for almost an hour. Then, rain came in giant balls of hail. We were under attack! I think it might have been the creatures of Pluto. They’re still upset over losing their status as a planet. I don’t know how they got the thunder to rumble for as long or as shaky as they did, but it was hard to stand! Our Chicken Citizens’ Patrol, of which I am the Head of Security, took command and initiated a Code Orange: safety seats. Each chicken is assigned a pull-down chair within its coop. When the siren is sounds, we have to get to our seats and buckle up until the “all clear” announcement is made. It was so bumpy that some of us even screamed. Okay, I screamed, but I stopped as soon as I noticed that everyone was staring at me. Tomorrow, I will be sending a sincere note of displeasure to the creatures of Pluto! Shame on them for scaring chickens.
