September 23, 2013 – With Mom’s permission, I strapped on my colander helmet this morning, hopped on the Vespa, and took a couple of spins around the property to clear my head. I feel so much better! Things are starting to come into focus with the business. We had a very productive meeting today that included the go-ahead for a second fermenter for the brewery and the decision to introduce our brand of beer by way of a sample 12-pack. We’re used to working in dozens, so it makes sense. We even nailed down names and recipes. I think that in a couple of weeks, we’ll see exploding sales numbers. Charlotte and Addie are out today setting up orders with the grain store and area farm animals. WHOOO HOOO! We’re still attempting to keep our manufacturing efforts under wraps. No sense in getting Mom upset, though even she would have to admit how industrious we are.
Wilma, Sawyer and I are going bowling tonight. It’s important to keep life in balance and have a few laughs. It’s also an ideal opportunity to check out the alley’s beverage distribution system. I think with the right amount of sweet talking on Sawyer’s part, the owner would gladly add our beer to his inventory. Holy smokes, I almost forgot to journal about our name! By unanimous vote, the title of our company is: That’s the Spirit! It will be followed by the tagline: Hearty Liquors from a Happy Flock. We’re still working on what to call our moonshine. The sample box of beer will contain two bottles each of Pumpkin and Midnight Crawler Seasonal Ale, Egg in Your Beer Pilsner, Beaker’s Brew Old Style Draught, Chicken Scratch Pale, Handcrafted Amber Roost, and Winterberry Nest Lager. All this accomplished in such a short period of time. A month ago, I couldn’t decide whether to eat a grub or prank call the cat! Turns out, I’m quite suited to life as an entrepreneur. I didn’t see this in my last cup of tea leaves!
