October 12, 2013 – It’s raw again today. I almost said, “Well, shiver me timbers!” but Sawyer is still getting over the “pirate incident” from Monday and she’s sitting right next to me. Where is the sunshine, people?! Gone are the gloriously warm days of summer when cooling off came by virtue of the garden hose and the chicken version of Slip ‘n Slide. Gone are the watermelon smiles and the beach chairs in our run. Sad to say, but I see no need to wear my garden hat in the foreseeable future. I am a scientist. I know that tomorrow could bring either a lovely, sun-drenched day, or a cold and blustery Nor’easter. So, before my explorations are limited by the walls of a shoveled-out snow path, I shall put on the lovely periwinkle cardigan that Charlotte knitted for me, and run through the leaf-filled grasses of my home. Just to make a point, I may wear an inflatable pool duck around my waist while doing so.
