October 15, 2013 – The bowling alley ordered another shipment of beer from the Happy Chicken Brewing Company, so we cut our molt leave short and fired up the fermenters. Later in the week, we will deliver the goods and receive another healthy sales check. For the time being, we’re banking our proceeds to help offset the cost of supplies. It won’t be long though, before we turn a tidy profit. I don’t like to get ahead of myself, but I’m fairly confident that we’ll be able to fulfill Peaches’ wish of buying a new pencil. Tonight, if the rain holds off, Bo, Wilma and I have volunteered to fire up a batch of shine in our beautiful, homemade copper still. Hopefully, it won’t be too cloudy and the moon will be our work light. I’m headed into my nesting box now, to take a nap. We’re meeting up at 2:00 A.M.! Best of all, we have a highly dependable security system in place to keep both us and our equipment safe. Aside from the closed circuit camera system with heat sensor night vision that we finally installed, we also hired a team of top-notch bodyguards to escort us to and from the still site and guard the perimeter while we work. This crew consists of six Doberman Pinchers and a German Shepard. They are true professionals. We pay them in buttered toast. They love it! The wheat and sour dough loaves that Sawyer bakes up are their favorites. Well… time to put my sleep mask on and set the alarm clock. I’m rather excited at the thought of our nighttime escapade.
