October 23, 2013 – I took a walk today up to the front of the house and the room where Mom has her office. I cupped my hands against the window to see if she was at her computer. She was! I gave the glass a quick couple of raps and waved my wing enthusiastically at her. “Hi, Mom!” I said loudly into the window so she would hear me. A minute later and she was outside standing at my side. I gave her a huge hug around the legs because I love her. She laughed and picked me up remarking at how wonderful I looked in my new feathers. That’s right! I’m two tiny head feathers away from being done with the molt and I look fabulous! We all do! In fact, Mom doesn’t know it yet, but with some of the money we’ve made so far from our adult beverage company, we’re going to have a group portrait done and give it to her; in a frame and everything! She walked back to the run with me and spent a few minutes talking to us and admiring our new look. Then, she told us that we were the best part of taking a break. I don’t mean to brag, but I think we are, too!
