November 7, 2013 – I put on my yellow fisherman’s hat and rain gear to work in the brewery for a few hours with Addie, Charlotte, Peaches and Bo. The sun didn’t come out once as we watched the gauges on the fermenter hold steady through a misty fog. This is our last batch of beer until the spring when we go ahead with our plans to build a permanent facility that keeps the equipment safe and all of us out of the elements. It’s going to have a state-of-the-art conveyor system that cleans, fills, caps and labels the bottles without a single bit of spit from us. We’re going high-tech, baby! Working on the plans will be a good way for us to while away the snowbound days of winter. Well, that and learning how to dance. The flock has already secured the services of one, Pierre-Henri Poulet, a talented Houdan Rooster and World Pro-Am Ballroom Champion from France. He’s working out of a barn on the other side of town having recently settled in New Hampshire from a farm outside of Paris. We are all quite excited that he has agreed to teach us. In return, we are giving him three jugs of moonshine. Charlotte, who is a bit smitten with Pierre, wanted to pay him upfront, but the rest of us thought it best to pay him in installments. Our first lesson is the Argentine Tango. I cannot wait to see Wilma in this dance!
