November 8, 2013 – It’s another chilly, overcast day so I decided to cheer everyone up with a fondue party at our coop! The best part is that every chicken is bringing with her a handful of “something” that can be pierced with a long fork and dipped into cheese. Some of the ladies are bringing along a sampling of dried bugs that they have been preserving for winter use. Others are outside having a blast digging up night crawlers. Sawyer is busy filling serving dishes with small popcorn balls, chunky pieces of cantaloupe, butternut squash, apple slices and lettuce spears. I’ve strung a line of light bulbs to the rafters since it will be dark soon. All of us will be attending the soirée in brightly colored shirts. The pullets have put together a mixed tape of summer beach music for dancing – though we all agree that absolutely no one is to dance while holding a fondue fork!
We’re not waiting around for the weather to make us feel good. We’re feeling good because of the sunshine that radiates from each of us. That reminds me… I need to dig out the flashlight for puppet charades.
