December 12, 2013 – The monogramed potholders I ordered for Sawyer and the Orpington hens came in the mail today. They look great! I can’t wait for Christmas morning to see the looks on their faces when they open their gifts from me. I went over to the pullets coop to wrap them. That was a mistake. Dottie and Maisy thought they were hats and wouldn’t take them off. Kellie Pickler got tangled up in the Scotch tape to the point where I had to cut her free with the pinking shears. And poor Dolly Parton! She drank far too many mugs of eggnog and spent the afternoon moaning from inside her nest box. I do love these babies though. I helped them hang their stockings before I headed back to Coop #3 wearing the wrapping paper scarf they made just for me. Perhaps this is how the phrase, “Dashing through the snow” originated. For I must admit, I did look dashing.
