December 20, 2013 – Peaches, Sawyer, Wilma and I sat down today to string popcorn for our Christmas tree. It took four hours to make a length long enough to use. Every time we stopped to check on our progress, we fell far short of our goal. A curious enigma it was, until we realized that the pullets were hiding out under the table eating their way up the popcorn line. Kids! I put them to work making seedball ornaments. I don’t expect we’ll end up with many of those either, but they’re laughing and having a hoot. There’s something about hearing pullets laugh that makes me smile. Wait a minute; can chickens smile? I never thought about this before. Oh, blimey. I need to find myself a mirror!
