February 4, 2014 – What do you do on a sunny day sandwiched in between two snow storms? What don’t you do! I ordered seed catalogs online, set up a taste lab for the brewery inside the shed, played around with flavor ideas for our spring re-opening, (how does a blackberry watermelon pilsner sound?); signed Wilma up with a social group for seniors who travel the country in RV’s, (no – she doesn’t know about it yet…), researched bicycles built for five, hula danced in a stream of sunlight, had an iced tea in a plastic cup with a straw, ate a glazed raspberry stick, took a casual twirl around the run, sent a post card to my pen pal, Anton in Denmark, (he wants to be my boyfriend), stared at a knot in the wall, laid a magnificent egg, preened my feathers until they sparkled, and laughed with my best friends, Sawyer and Peaches.
That was this morning. This afternoon I’m planning to peek into our neighbor’s window and see what they have for cable. Sawyer said that I would be rude to do such a thing, but I’m not judging anyone… I’m just curious. I think they have the curling channel. It’s one of the sports I’m considering for my Olympic debut. Though, if I’m being honest, Violet is the real hairdresser in the group and would probably be our best chance at a gold medal. I wonder how many curlers you have to roll in order to win. I bet the colder it gets, the more difficult it becomes. Do you have to bring your own model or do they supply the heads? Ooh… that sounds creepy all of a sudden. I wonder what kind of heads? See…? This is why I need to look into our neighbor’s window! Maybe the luge is a better choice for me.
Suddenly, my afternoon is filled with possibilities. But, such is the life of a chicken.
