February 8, 2014 – I think we’re back on an even keel with the bank. They loved the xylophone and weren’t at all upset with Tim. I never saw Miss Shilling. It must have been her day off, but I did tell Mrs. Threepenny about how I was treated over the phone. She apologized profusely, and gave us each a rubber jar opener featuring the banks name and phone number across the front. We told her it wasn’t necessary, but she insisted. I suppose it will come in handy when I’m canning worms and suddenly feel the need to check on our bank balance.
Later today, I’m going to place an order with the strawberry farmers of California. I want to surprise the flock for Valentine’s Day with giant, tasty berries dipped in yogurt. Only the best for my family! Maybe I’ll even send one to Mrs. Threepenny, since we seem to be in an obligatory gift-giving phase. Tonight, some of the girls and I are getting together to watch the Olympics on TV. Evidently, Russia is farther away than I thought and they don’t let chickens participate in the luge, so it looks like I’ll be a spectator instead of an athlete this time around. Hey – that just gave me an idea … we could host our own winter games in the backyard! Ooh, the wheels are turning now!
