February 14, 2014 – I went ice climbing on the hill behind our run. Thank goodness I glued cleats to the bottom of my boots and packed an ice pick, or I might not have made it to the top! What a glorious view! I was so high up that I could see straight into the kitchen window of the house. Mom was baking cookies. She must have felt me staring in her direction, because when she looked up and saw me waving at her, she threw her potholder into the air. I seem to have that effect on her. I used a ski pole to outline a giant heart in the snow and filled in the line with red food coloring that I squirted from a plastic bottle. Then, I outlined the words, “Happy Loves Mom” inside the heart. Mom was very touched and blew me a kiss. I love Valentine’s Day.
