February 26, 2014 – My computer worked fine this morning, so I Googled the peculiar code uttered yesterday by the jumpy circulation assistant at the library. Evidently, the letters, “DMV” stand for the Department of Motor Vehicles. I did a search and found an office one town over from us. It’s too cold and too far to walk there, so I ordered a study book online to prepare for the written portion of the licensing exam. If Sawyer and I pass that, we get our learner’s permit. Then, we’ll be eligible to take a road test! And if we pass that, we get our driver’s license! There are a few minor details to work out – such as, do they offer licenses to poultry, does the age requirement apply to chickens, and must we demonstrate the ability to reach the pedals on our own? But once those hurdles are cleared, the rest should be a piece of cake. This is huge! With a license, we won’t have to deliver our Happy Chicken Brewing Company beer orders in a little red wagon pulled by a bicycle! Yes indeed – the world is our oyster! Ooh – that made me think of seafood. Once we have our licenses, we’ll be able to take ourselves to the beach for a lobster roll!! Can life get any grander?
