March 21, 2014 – Today was an ordinary, extraordinary day in the chicken yard. Ordinary, because it was egg laying and dirt scratching business as usual. Extraordinary, because this morning was very foggy. So much so, that I thought it a prudent move to strap on my head lamp before navigating my way down the back steps into the run. Evidently, Waffles and Sawyer had the same idea. When my light beam hit theirs, I saw two, oddly separated eyes beaming back at me through the mist. Sad to say… I fainted and tumbled down the steps. Thankfully, the two of them were there to pick me up and dust me off. Had I been wearing my colander helmet, I wouldn’t be sporting a bruise on the back of my noggin. Wouldn’t you know that moments later, Wilma stumbled upon the scene. She’s been calling me “Egg Head” all afternoon. Actually, I have to laugh. It was pretty funny. Waffles and Sawyer felt so badly about the ordeal, that they wanted to make me breakfast in bed. I wasn’t tired though, so the three of us shared a bowl of oatmeal and raspberries on the same back steps that I flopped over. Yup. An ordinary, extraordinary day!
