March 31, 2014 – It’s a delightful day! Peaches took a walk with me to the center store to get a big bag of peanuts and a case of root beer. It’s Opening Day for baseball, and our chicken yard is pumped and ready to cheer on our team. We’re the biggest fans in poultry! It’s still raining, so we’re watching the game in the garage in the clubhouse that Mom built for us. (It’s an away game, so no chance of it being called on account of the weather.) She even plugged in the big popcorn machine and said she’d be back to watch it with us in time for the first pitch! Ah….the first day of baseball. It’s the promise that warmer weather is coming. Hot dogs, watermelon, fireworks, slip and slides with the garden hose on the side yard, Vespa rides wherever our imagination leads. Oh my goodness! I have a brilliant idea!! I’m going to install lights on my colander helmet for night-time driving. WHOOO HOOOO!!! I need to grab my game jersey and fielder’s mitt before the broadcast starts. PLAY BALL!!
