April 22, 2014– I had a lovely visit with Violet today. She’s still under the weather, but her spirit is inspiring. Mom has her on a special medicine to help her kick this thing once and for all. I hope it works. Violet is a great friend. I brought her grapes and she gobbled them down ferociously. I thought that was a good sign. Grapes are her favorite treat, even more than mealworms. She also loves sunflower seeds, which is funny because Bo hates them. He always leaves them behind when Mom gives us her special scratch mixture. Violet doesn’t like the split peas. Personally, I’ll eat anything.
After I caught Violet up on chicken yard gossip, (she was horrified over the blender incident but relieved that the pullets are okay), I played my piccolo for her and she seemed to like it very much. I told her that as soon as she gets better, I’m taking her for a ride in the car for a frozen yogurt. I told her all about Sawyer and me with the nervous librarian and had her laughing so hard that I thought she was going to pass out. Then I was afraid I had caused her more discomfort but she assured me that laughing is very good medicine indeed.
I hugged her before leaving and promised that I would stop in tomorrow and bring her something to nibble on. Soon the dandelion greens will be up, and I want Violet beside me when we eat them.
I love you Violet. Please get better soon.
