April 29, 2014 – I planned to go for a ride today, but Mom was using the car. So instead, Sawyer, Peaches and I took a lovely walk down the road to visit our friends at Mrs. Turner’s farm. We didn’t stay long, it being springtime and farm animals are busy this time of year having babies. One of the pink pigs was in the middle of giving birth. Our friend Trudy the goat, brought us over to the pig pen. Behind it, in a low-lit stall, a rather large porcine wonder was in the heaves of labor. We had to stay very quiet. Sawyer and Peaches were riveted. I threw up in a milk bucket.
After our visit, we walked to the landscape nursery to smell the newly bloomed flowers. They sat regally in rows along large wooden risers. Such stunning colors! I rather enjoyed their intoxicating fragrance. I had to get the barn smell out of my nose. Thank goodness chickens hatch. No licking involved in our delivery. A few hours spent breaking through an eggshell, then we dry off, give ourselves a bit of a fluff and it’s, Hello World! No one pokes an eye out over a chicken being born. Lordy! This farm visit should have come with a warning label.
On the other hand, the piglets are the cutest little things – and smart! I’m thinking that we should get one for the chicken yard. I’m going to ask Mom. It’ll be a boy and we’ll name him, Kevin Bacon.
