May 24, 2014 – Today was busy! We worked in the brewery pushing out 20 cases of our new summer brew – The Artisan Collection. Each case features beer that we have named after some of our favorite singers and songs. There is an homage to Olivia Newton-John with our, Let’s Get Fizzy Cold, Fizzy Cold Pale Ale; a nod to The Monkeys, I’m a Believer with the, Then I Saw Her Face. Now I’m Gonna Leave Her Bitter Brew; and a lovely pilsner dedicated to Elton John’s hit single, Your Song, entitled: If I Were a Skeleton, but Then Again, Gnome.
A new order came in from a friend of Pauline Mudge (of Pauline’s Crab Shack and Ballroom Dance Emporium) with a must have delivery date of Tuesday. That’s cutting things close since we leave on Thursday to start our vacation. But we’ll get it done. After all, we wouldn’t be going on the trip were it not for our “liquid” investments.
The customer’s name is Verna. She runs a motorhome sales lot over in Sunapee and is hosting an employee appreciation barbecue next weekend. If all goes well, we’ll pack up the pickup Monday night and head north to meet her. Normally, I prefer driving in daylight – especially when I don’t know where I’m going, but there’s less traffic at night, which means less chance of us being spotted. Now that Sawyer and I have our license, we’re legal to be on the road, but for some reason we get a lot of looks when we’re behind the wheel. Perhaps it is because we are excellent drivers. Tim and Charlotte are coming with us to help with the transfer of goods. I’m glad about that.
The rest of the day was uneventful. I got called over to Coop #2 to help the pullets with a sticky situation. Dolly Parton had a raisin stuck in her tail feathers and the other pullets refused to help her remove it. They said, it reminded them of something else. Kids! I had her cleaned up in no time. After that, it was a nice pot of lavender tea and a raspberry scone before bed. I am dog tired – (though if you ask me, dogs are underachievers. It should be, I am egg-laying, business-minded, piccolo playing, world traveler, scientist, Vespa and pickup driving hen tired!) Now that’s getting your money’s worth!
