July 16, 2014 – When I started keeping a diary two years ago, I thought I might run out of exciting events to write about. But as I watched Peaches run by my coop a second ago with Addie in tow screaming after her, “Drop the zucchini!” I realized that every day as a chicken is interesting. I hung out with Violet today and spent time with the bantam chicks. On the way back to Coop #3, I overheard Dolly Parton and Maisy singing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by the brilliant band the Beatles, at the top of their lovely lungs. Instead of, “… the girl with kaleidoscope eyes” they sang, “… the girl with colitis goes by”. I nearly wet myself. I didn’t correct them. They were having a grand time. Sometimes life is perfect because of the imperfections. As long as it stays like this, I’ll be documenting chicken life for a long time.
